Problem: Fairfax County wanted to create a set of online family and business emergency preparedness planners. These new sites needed to be a place where their users could input information into their emergency plan and have an easy way to export that information to others. They also wanted mobile apps to allow users to reach their emergency plan on the go.
Custom Solution: This site was designed to help Fairfax County residents and businesses to develop an emergency plan and follows basic and accepted emergency management practices. Users are guided to input their data into a comprehensive emergency preparedness planner template. Once the user has completed the form, a PDF document containing the emergency plan can be downloaded as well as emailed to whomever they want. Both planners meet ADA requirements for accessibility and user data is kept private. After creating their emergency plan, they can import the data to the mobile app. This mobile app ensures that an emergency plan is accessible whenever needed.
